Rigid or Flexible
One of the most versatile and widely utilized polymers in the industry. Whether you are developing rigid, weather-resistant structural components or flexible, resilient seals and tubing, PVC offers an unmatched balance of physical properties, most notably its inherent fire retardancy and exceptional chemical resistance.
- Rigid PVC (uPVC): Characterized by high stiffness, structural integrity, and excellent weatherability. This is our go-to for outdoor components, electrical conduits, and construction profiles that must withstand environmental exposure without degrading.
- Flexible PVC (pPVC): By adding plasticizers, we transform PVC into a soft, elastomeric material. It is the ideal choice for medical-grade tubing, gaskets, seals, and protective coatings that require durability and chemical inertness.
- Tooling Integrity: HCl gas is highly corrosive to standard tool steel. At Manterra, we utilize specialized, corrosion-resistant steel grades and advanced surface coatings (such as chrome or nickel plating) on our mold cavities.
- Thermal Precision: PVC has a narrow processing window. Our machines are equipped with highly precise temperature control systems and optimized flow paths to prevent material stagnation.
Because it is chemically sensitive to heat and potentially corrosive to tooling, many molding shops shy away from it. We, however, view it as a core capability. We have the specific tooling, processing protocols, and safety standards in place to handle PVC, ensuring that your parts meet your exact specifications without compromising mold longevity.
